The motivation behind this setup was that I wanted a board wide enough to fit the widest Ace AF1 trucks (80 at 10") and the biggest Powell Dragon wheels (64mm x 40mm). I previously ordered a pair of Moose decks from TGM Skateboards for a separate project, and I was left with the double kick old-school model. It was wide enough to fit the largest Ace/Dragon combo, so I decided to claim it as my personal deck and started working it.
Wheel wells were added to avoid wheelbite. I tried doing a carbon-paper transfer of a few different logos. The fact that the wood was previously sealed made the carbon almost wash away with the first coat of polyurethane, even though I sanded the original finish completely off to start. Lesson learned. Fortunately, a ghostly image of each logo is still visible. Not as bold as I had hoped, but almost cooler in an artistic sort of way. I'll take it.
This board should be ideal for carving/cruising really big bowls and ditches. I plan to set up a slightly smaller version for more technical bowl riding.
